The Wizards of Rods Inc. is a Non-Profit organization that believes in the preservation of the old car hobby. Almost all of the proceeds from fund raisers and dues are given to the Tomah WI Veteran's Hospital, Toys for Tots, the D.A.R.E program and the American Cancer Society.
This all started when 5 or 6 of us local “car nuts” used to meet in one of our garages to brain storm over one of our problems. Did we solve anything? Sometimes we did, on other occasions it was just nice to sit around and talk about our projects and how they were progressing. Surprising how many different ways there are to accomplish the same thing!
Well , in December of 1979 we thought maybe it was time to organize, In January of 1980 an ad was taken out in the local paper, we rented a room at a local supper club and the 1st
informal meeting was held. As word spread, we had more and more people come to the meetings. Somewhere over that year of 1980 we decided we needed a name, out of the suggestion box came the tin men, and from that suggestion came the Wizards of Rods. And so the Club was born with 22 members.On our second year we put together our 1st car show, Now known as the Wizards Fun Run. It attracted over 40 entries of mostly local Original cars, Our 2002 Fun run had over 275 entries from as far as New York State! WOW has the show Grown!!
